More info about Little Johnny:

Little Johnny was originally named Picotrac because of the small tractor base. As construction went on, and he started taking form, announcers and spectators referred to him as "The Little Johnny robot" because of his resemblance to the famous character Johnny 5 from the movie Short Circuit. So I eventually adopted the name and he's been know as Little Johnny every since.
Johnny emerged from the robo junk pile because I needed a robot that would appeal to an audience of students and young kids. People seem to like robots that have human characteristics like eyes, arms, a head, and body, so that's what I set out to build. He now goes with me to school assemblies and presentations.
Johnny has won First place at several robotics competitions along the west coast and even before he had a head he took second place in San Francisco.
In mid 2003 CanLaws Production, Inc. found pictures of Little Johnny while searching for robots to use in a movie. I was contacted by the production company and asked if I'd like for my robot to make some money, I accepted even though at the time I thought it was just for a documentary or "B"-rated film. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out it was for a Blockbuster film called iRobot, a takeoff from the Isaac Asimov books, starring -Will Smith- and -Bridget Moynahan- released July 16th 2004. Wow, how cool is that!
Little Johnny is only a static display (prop) in the movie, but still enough to get his foot in the doors. Look for him in a robot repair shop in the movie.
Little Johnny has also been on TechTV's Screen Savers show several times, all our local news channels and is a celebrity in his own mind.
That's about all on LJ, I don't have mechanical drawings our assembly plans, so please don't ask.
